Dr. Sara Magaña Shubel Lifelong Learning Scholarship

What We Do

Dr. Sara Magaña Shubel Lifelong Learning Scholarship

For twelve years as superintendent, Dr. Sara Shubel kept East Grand Rapids Schools at the very top of the list of the best school districts in the state of Michigan. At the school board's meeting March 12, Dr. Shubel announced her plans to step down from the post at the end of the school year. A new scholarship in her name will ensure her legacy will continue.

The Dr. Sara Magaña Shubel Lifelong Learning Scholarship will provide continuing education for teachers and administrators. By providing opportunities for educators to pursue additional training, the scholarship will honor Dr. Shubel's commitment to public education.

The scholarship will be given annually to one or more teachers, staff, or administrators in the East Grand Rapids School District to be used for a class, seminar, workshop, or learning opportunity that will continue the quest for lifelong learning. The scholarship may fund tuition, course materials, or conference fees. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and the scholarship must be used within twelve months.

The amount of the scholarship generally will be $1,000, but may vary from year to year at the discretion of the EGRSF Board based on the income available.
